Named with a Purpose
Siren Theatre Collective takes its name from sirens of myth- figures of power and transformation whose songs were said to be impossible to ignore. Reimagined here, the siren is both warning and witness with a voice that cannot be ignored. She demands urgency, drawing attention to what must be seen. In this space, the siren becomes a symbol of voices rising together and refusing silence or complacency.
Also rooted in the rich maritime history of Maryland where the pull of the Chesapeake shapes daily life, we embrace the water as both setting and metaphor. Like the bay itself, theatre is fluid, ever-changing, and deeply connected to our primal memory and survival.
We are drawn to the ancient origins of storytelling- when myth, ritual, and performance were inseparable. Theatre will always remain at its roots a powerful communal and ephemeral art form.
We are committed to equity, inclusion, accessibility & belonging across all aspects of our work—onstage, offstage, and in the communities we serve. We strive to build spaces where people from a wide range of identities, backgrounds, and lived experiences are not only welcomed but centered and valued.
